Giggs lifted the trophy in both 1999 and 2008 and apart from being the oldest goal scorer in the tournament, has also scored in more seasons compared with any other player. Zinedine Zidane tops the pile, famed for his 2002 Final volley which is rated as among the best ever to be witnessed in the competition.
Two-time Barcelona winner Lionel Messi follows closely in second place. The great defender Paolo Maldini who throughout his career played for AC Milan is ranked third. having three times lifted the trophy with Real Madrid FC. Xavi Hernandez. Raúl Gonzalez who is the all-time competition goal scorer with 71 goals to his name completes the top five,
The Top 50 list also features various other phenomenal players like Edwin van der Sar, who made history as the only goalkeeper to have won UEFA Champions League on two occasions for different clubs, Manchester United FC and AFC Ajax. Clarence Seedorf is the other notable name, having celebrated the trophy with three European clubs.
Among various other popular players listed as well include Jari Litmanen, Hakan Sukur, Roar Strand, Luis Figo Andriy Shevchenko and Oliver Kahn all of who merit inclusion in their own spectacular way.
